ABOUT Faith Lift

Tibby Olivier is one of England’s best kept secrets, a limited, discreet and intimate production. Our customer base thus far has been entirely established from referrals and recommendations provided by our regular clientele. Based in the little rural village of Blackrod in Lancashire, the main aim of the company is to get back to the root of perfumery/skin care by using organic essential oils and creating a range which is far removed from the mass consumerism of today.

With the trend leaning towards these methods, we felt this was the time to reach a larger audience whilst maintaining our aims. The whole Faith range has been therapist driven and
grown “organically” from results. The range is organic, paraben, silicon and preservative free and does not include any animal by-products nor have they been tested on animals.

The company director, Julieann has personally mixed and tested all the products on herself to ensure their suitability.

Eve Taylor Skincare : Secret to continuing success

February 9th, 2012

Eve Taylor SkincareEve Taylor Skincare is looking good for 20 per cent sales growth this year with a business committed to UK production and high-quality, affordable products the world wants to buy.

Although entrepreneur Eve Taylor, who founded the brand that bears her name some 40 years ago, describes herself as “old school”, her business model, both grounded and generous, could not be more modern.

Eve Taylor London (ETL), run by herself and three of her five sons, employs 18 inPeterborough, Cambridgeshire.

Here more than 60 original natural-ingredient beauty or aromatherapy products for women and men, such as facial oils and cleansers, are made and distributed.

These go to professional therapists with salons and spas in more than 20 countries fromMexicotoMongolia, creating a turnover last year of £1.7 million and on course for £2.2 million in 2012.

Those in the ETL fold need never fear being undercut by discounting, a phenomenon compounded by online offers that has proved fatal to many a small business, explainsTaylor.

“Customers in salons like to buy the products used in their treatments and then carry on the good work at home.

“It has always been a valuable source of income for therapists, which the world over are either women sole traders with a mobile business, or a small high-street shop.

“But bigger brands now maximise sales by discounting with stores or shopping channels. Customers don’t buy from their therapist as they can find products more cheaply elsewhere.

“The salon trade relies on disposable income so it’s been hit hard by the recession and discounting has cost it even more jobs.

“These are skilled women who have often funded their own training to get into business.”

Taylor’s refusal to discount and instead support other small businesses with products and education, led to the company creating a sales platform which has become a unique selling point, she says.

“Salons on tight margins selling expensive brands are struggling and having to adapt to a new economic landscape. What they want is something more affordable but still special. That’s us.”

Customers can buy from the company’s website but at salon prices. “We are always trying to strike a balance between controlling our costs and maintaining sensible prices and the needs of our professional customers so neither is nailed to the floor,”Taylorexplains.

“We don’t offer credit or trade financing, everything is paid for in sterling before it goes out the door.

“But neither do we insist on a minimum order number which helps with salons’ cash flow.

“They know we are on their side in good times and bad. Supporting them both with effective products that have an excellent shelf-life as well as education will sustain our long-term growth and theirs.

“We’re in the right place and the right time now. We are getting new salons on board at a rate of five to 10 a week and export 50 per cent of our output.”

Being a tight-knit business enables ETL to develop new ranges more quickly and customise them for different markets. “Thinking local but acting global sums up our strategy,” saysTaylor.

Her entrepreneurial life started in the Fifties, working forAvonand training as a beautician.

She recalls: “Women were changing. They had had enough of living in grey, post-war austerityBritain.” That led to a career specialising in aromatherapy, teaching, running her own salons and developing a brand.

In the late Eighties the company moved fromLondon, taking advantage of the lower costs and enterprise breaks inPeterboroughto set up its own factory.

In the last decadeTaylor’s belief in “working hard, innovation, never taking things for granted and being prepared to adapt to market conditions” has been fiercely tested as many more brands climbed on the aromatherapy bandwagon, diluting the credibility of the concept.

“We had to change to secure our long-term future,” saysTaylor. A men’s range was followed with £750,000 of investment in new plant and buildings with classrooms.

In 2011 the company was considered such a good bet that Barclays gave it a £200,000 loan. This has been invested in developing a range of more advanced age-resisting and moisturising products, known as cosmeceuticals.

“Our business achievement has been to create high-performance products that can be compared with those of much larger brands but for half the price, which is what our customers expect,” saysTaylor.

“These new ranges are turning us into a global contender for the first time. Our biggest sellers continue to be the basics like our essential oils, but I wish we had started the new skincare investments sooner.”

Taylor, who received an OBE in 2008, still does a six-day week and at almost 80 years of age has never owned a fancy watch or expensive car.

She has no plans to do so, “but we will create four new jobs this year and expand more intoAsia,” she says. “It’s always been about the business for me.

“When people ask why I’m still working at my age I just say it’s not about getting older, I’m just living longer, that’s why I have to learn more all the time.”

Cosmedics New Putney Clinic Introduces New Laser Technology with Pain-Free Laser Hair Removal

January 10th, 2012

Cosmedics
Specialist dermatology company, Cosmedics, has launched a new range of laser treatments in its new clinic in the heart of Putney, including “pain-free” laser hair removal and also laser skin tightening to turn back the clock on the signs of ageing.

As an independent skin clinic offering cosmetic and medical procedures, Cosmedics are renowned for a unique approach to skincare, combining cosmetic treatments with medicine for outstanding results. An expanding company, Cosmedics add new treatments for their patients on a regular basis. However, the addition of laser technology has been very carefully considered by Medical Director, Dr Ross Perry; who spent many months choosing the right technology.

We all know how irritating it is to repeatedly shave and wax, or smother ourselves in ‘miracle’ hair-removal creams. Or perhaps you prefer epilation… ouch! And it doesn’t even last – one day you’re hair-free; the next you’re back to square one. Men and women everywhere need a permanent and long-term hair reduction and laser hair removal is a very popular option. However, not all laser hair removal systems are the same, and experience of the treatment and its results can vary widely.

At Cosmedics, gold-standard laser technology with the Soprano XL system means that treatment is genuinely painless, but is also highly efficient. The diode laser wavelength 810 is revolutionary, because it marks an end to the need for any anaesthesia, pre-treatment cooling or numbing gels. The Sapphire DualChill tip means that patients feel nothing as the laser is used. What’s more, with IN-Motion technology the process is fast: for hair removal, the laser works on a 12×10 mm spot and is used with a sweeping motion, unlike IPL which tends to work by blasting a spot area at a time; and its 10 Hz repetition rate means any given course will be over before you know it.

After just one treatment patients will definitely notice the difference. Compared to other laser systems (IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light machines in particular) the laser machine can be used by all hair and skin types so that everyone can be hair-free.

Dr Ross Perry, MBBS ; Cosmetic Consultant and Medical Director at Cosmedics Skin Clinics said:

“Laser treatment for permanent hair removal and skin rejuvenation is something that our patients have requested and we have spent a lot of time choosing the right technology for the best possible permanent hair removal results.”

“’The Soprano Laser Machine is undoubtedly the patients’ favourite… we even see patients from other beauty and laser clinics switching to us for their treatments. It really does not hurt or cause any burns, and can even be used on patients who have a tan or very light hair. The revolutionary sweeping pattern of laser diode means it’s also a quick treatment that doesn’t miss any patches.”

“So far, the most popular areas for treatment are the underarm, bikini, legs and face for female patients, whilst men favour the back, shoulders and chest. In fact, for those that have previously had their backs lasered or waxed, the reviews have been amazing – whereas before treatment was quite painful, with our technology the men report that it’s more like a warm stone massage”

“Laser hair removal is also very effective for ‘problem hair’ issues, blitzing ingrowing hairs or tackling excessively hairy male backs or female top lips with very effective results.”

However, laser hair removal is only half the story. The machine can also be used for laser skin tightening, a treatment which is revolutionising anti-ageing treatments. The laser beam works deep within the skin to stimulate regeneration for instantly tighter, firmer skin that carries on getting better after treatment.

Dr Perry went on to explain “We purchased the machine initially for laser hair removal. However, we have been so impressed by the results of the skin tightening treatment that we have decided to launch it straightaway, ready for 2012, and are already seeing great results from those patients who have tried it.”

Laser hair removal and laser skin tightening is exclusively available at Cosmedics’ new Putney clinic, just off the high street at 4 Disraeli Road, Putney, London, SW15 2DS. The clinic also offers popular cosmetic treatments such as fillers and anti-wrinkle injections, as well as mole removal and skin tag removal.

Cosmedics has 5 Skin Clinics in London plus one in Bristol and has plans for further expansion in the future.

Cosmedics expands with Prestigious New Putney Skin Clinic

December 7th, 2011

Specialist dermatology company, Cosmedics, has invested in a revolutionary clinic in the heart of Putney. Cosmedics are renowned for a unique approach to skincare, combining cosmetic treatments with medicine for outstanding results.

Conveniently located at 4 Disraeli Road, just off Putney high street, the new clinic is luxuriously fitted throughout; offering 3 comfortable and fully equipped non-surgical consulting and treatment rooms. The clinic also offers a state-of-the-art minor operating theatre with recovery room, personally designed by Dr Ross Perry with scientifically advanced technology, which will offer minor cosmetic surgery on a day-case basis for their patients.
Cosmedics specialise in mole removal, wart and skin tag removal using cryotherapy, laser or surgery depending on the patient’s requirements.

Patients can usually be treated on the day of consultation, making the service highly convenient for busy patients. In addition, they offer treatment for acne scarring, cellulite, stretch marks, excessive perspiration and thread veins.
Cosmedics
The company also offer a full range of cosmetic treatments, including popular “pain-free” lip enhancement injections. Skin rejuvenation treatments on offer include wrinkle relaxing injections, dermal fillers, peels, sun damage treatment and dermaroller®, which can be used alone or combined for a “non-surgical face-lift”.

Dr Ross Perry, MBBS ; Cosmetic Consultant and Medical Director at Cosmedics, commented “We are delighted with the refurbishment of our Putney clinic and have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback from our first few patients to visit us.”

“We specifically chose Putney in order to accommodate the demand for cosmetic and medical treatments in the area.”

“We are really looking forward to developing the clinic and have ambitious plans for the future. The new surgical facility will enable us to extend our range of services with cosmetic surgery and work with a number of leading cosmetic surgeons.”

“In addition, we are launching Sopraono pain free laser hair removal service. This is something that our patients have requested and we have spent a lot of time choosing the right technology for the best possible permanent hair removal results.”

The recession shows no sign of dampening enthusiasm for cosmetic treatments. In fact, demand for wrinkle relaxing injections, chemical peels, laser treatments and the like is estimated to have risen by 17% in the past two years.

Cosmedics Skin clinics are renowned for their honest and safety at all costs approach and being doctor led enables great cosmetic results. All treatments are carried out by GMC Registered Doctors who have been specially trained in Dr Ross Perry’s own cosmetic and medical dermatology techniques.

Regular cosmetic and medical clinics take place at newly refurbished main clinic, which also houses the Company’s head office at 4 Disraeli Road, Putney, London, SW15 2DS. The company has 5 clinics in London plus one in Bristol and has plans for further expansion in the future.

Fish pedicures unlikely to cause infection

October 19th, 2011

The risk of infection associated with Garra rufa fish pedicures is likely to be very low, Health Protection Agency (HPA) scientists said today.

fish pedicureFollowing a number of enquiries to the HPA from local environmental health practitioners, a multi-agency working group was established to produce guidance for this spa treatment.   The working group was led by the HPA and included experts from the HPA, Health Protection Scotland, the Health & Safety Laboratory and local authorities. The guidance has been endorsed by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland.

Fish tank water has been shown to contain a number of microorganisms.  Therefore,  in a fish spa setting there is the potential for transmission of a range of infections, either from fish to person (during the nibbling process), water to person (from the bacteria that can multiply in water), or person to person (via water, surrounding surfaces and fish).  However, the overall risk of infection is likely to be very low, if appropriate standards of hygiene are adhered to.

The fish spa working group concluded that those with weakened immune systems or underlying medical conditions, including diabetes and psoriasis, are likely to be at increased risk of infection and so fish pedicures are not recommended for such individuals.  The working group advised that operators of fish spas should not promote treatment to these groups.

Dr Hilary Kirkbride, consultant epidemiologist at the HPA, said: “Provided that good standards of hygiene are followed by salons, members of the public are unlikely to get an infection from a fish spa pedicure, however the risk will be higher for certain people.

“This is why we feel it’s important for salons to ensure the client has no underlying health conditions that could put them at risk, and that a thorough foot examination is performed, to make sure there are no cuts, grazes or existing skin conditions that could spread infection.

“Anyone considering a fish pedicure can help reduce the risk of infection – both to themselves and others – by taking simple precautions. Allowing any cuts or infections you may have on your feet or legs to heal before having the treatment, and waiting at least 24 hours after having a leg wax or shaving, will minimise your chances of catching anything. If you do experience any ill effects after the treatment, you should visit your GP.”

Dr Paul Cosford, Director of Health Protection Services at the HPA, added: “As with any beauty salon, it’s really important that strict standards of cleanliness are followed, to ensure that the risk of infection is kept to a minimum. If a member of the public is concerned about the level of cleanliness of a salon they visit, they should report this to their local Environmental Health department.”

HD Brows: The Ultimate Eyebrow Treatment

June 9th, 2011

HD Brows is the unique, seven-step eyebrow shaping treatment that focuses on design. It involves an innovative combination of techniques, including tinting, waxing and threading.

Your eyebrows are a vital part of your personality. Not only do they frame your face, over 70% of your facial expressions depend on them. And that’s why the right brow shape and colour can take years off you.

As an official HD Brows salon, a HD Brows technician has the expertise to study the shape of your face and recommend the perfect brow design for you. Then a professional HD Brows stylist will perform the procedure, transforming your eyebrows into the shape you have always dreamed of.

Demand for HD Brows is growing at an unprecedented rate across the UK and beyond. And even celebrities are queuing up to experience the wonders of immaculate, high definition brows. Just recently Danni and Kylie Minogue actually sent their make-up artist for HD Brows training.

Suitable for nearly all brow types and for both men and women, the treatment is very affordable and highly successful.

WHAT IS HD BROWS?

HD Brows is a seven-step eyebrow shaping treatment that focuses on design.  It involves a combination of techniques, including tinting, waxing and threading using specialist HD Brows products.  There is also a full range of products you can purchase to enhance your brows in- between visits.

WHAT ARE THE BENIFITS OF HD BROWS?

HD Brows will create a huge difference to the face; it will enhance your facial features and can give the effect of a brow lift.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED THE HD BROWS TREATMENT

The length of time your results will last depends on how quickly your hair grows back and how well your hair holds colour.  On average you will need them done every 4 weeks.

WILL I GET THE RESULT I WANT STRAIGHT AWAY?

Most people get the HD Brows look immediately.  However, sometimes it takes a number of visits for your brows to be perfected.

I HAVE OVER PLUCKED MY BROWS.  CAN I STILL HAVE HD BROWS?

Yes.  You will be put on a re-growth programme that will train your brows into shape over a course of visits.

To speed up your re-growth and make your brows look better between visits, there are HD Brows products that will stimulate growth and make your eyebrows appear full and defined.

CAN I CHOOSE A SHAPE?

Absolutely.  Brow shapes are tailored to the individual as they have to suit your look and personality.  Your brows can be made dark or light, thick or thin, sharp or soft.

Your input is very important in deciding the best shape and look for you. Your stylist will consider your hair growth, look, and colouring and face shape when deciding on your brow design.

WHERE HAVE HD BROWS COME FROM AND WHY THE SUDDEN CRAZE?

From celebrity brow shapers Nilam and Amita Patel who have created the HD BROWS shaping method.   Part craze is because of the celeb following and the press/media coverage.   Katie Price trained in the treatment herself along with her make-up artist and beauty therapist so they showed it on her show.    After being shown on her show, it created a huge amount of interest both in the UK and stateside.

Many celebrities are known for having the HD Brows treatment, some can be found by visiting http://www.hd-brows.co.uk/celebrity-gallery

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HD BROWS TREATMENT AND A REGULAR BROW SHAPE AND TINT?

It is a seven-step process and focuses mainly on brow design not hair removal.  They are:-

  1. Preperation and assessment
  2. Tinting
  3. Waxing
  4. Trimming
  5. Threading
  6. Tweezer
  7. Finishing touches

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS?

An HD Brows technician will take into account the clients face shape, hair growth and colour, personality, age and expectations to design the best brows for that person.   It is not a set or standard shape.   It is individually designed to enhance the features of each person.

It often requires aftercare and re-growth from the client but the client doesn’t have to walk around with hairy brows for months as it can be done gradually.  HD Brows products are also available to purchase for home care maintenance in between treatment.

IS IT SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?  (ALL SKIN COLOURS?)

Yes, definitely, all age groups, young and old, male and female, any skin colouring and suitable for most types of hair growth to the brow area as well.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

£25 – £50 depending on where you have it done.

AM I SUITABLE FOR HD BROWS BECAUSE I HAVE A SCAR IN MY EYE BROW & WILL THE HD BROWS TREATMENT HIGHLIGHT OR DISGUISE THE SCAR?

Depending on where the scar is and how big, it will help disguise it but the client will be shown how to draw in a few hair strokes to camouflage it every day.

HOW LONG DO HD BROWS LAST?

It can take a few sessions to achieve the right HD Brows shape as many people have over plucked and spoiled their natural shape.  Regular maintenance is needed and HD Brows products are also available to purchase to use for home care maintenance in between treatment.

DO CLIENTS NEED MAINTENANCE TREATMENTS?  IF SO, HOW OFTEN?

Regular treatments on a monthly basis will be needed to maintain the best result.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE THIN EYEBROWS LOOK FULLER WITH HD BROWS?

For most people yes however the treatment will not replace non-existent brows if related to genetic hair growth, or illness.

WITH THREADING AND WAXING, YOU USUALLY HAVE TO LEAVE HAIR TO GROW BEFORE THE NEXT TREATMENT, IS THIS THE SAME FOR HD BROWS?

You do not need to let them grow back to bushy again.  The aim is to have nicely maintained brows that have a consistent shape

I’M THINKING OF TRAINING IN HD BROWS, WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

For all training enquiries contact HD Brows on 0845 644 3994 extension 49.
