It is a given that all salons want to provide their customers with a high quality experience and the provision of clean, fresh high quality towels goes a long way to achieving that aim. But keeping towels in good condition day in day out can be costly and time consuming. Scrummi claim to have solved that problem with the launch of their new eco-friendly disposable salon towels.
Costs such as electricity, water, towel replacement and staff time can all add up quickly. Scrummi claim that by using their disposable towel, a salon with 4 stylists can save at least £2000 per year on overheads. And disposable needn’t mean wasteful. Scrummi towels are made from natural cedar and eucalyptus fibre from sustainable sources, and when they are finished with they can be recycled as cardboard or composted as they are completely biodegradable.
Paul Burfoot, owner of Fish Salon in Soho started using Scrummi towels a few months ago and has already seen a benefit. “Not only have we seen our utility bills drop, but my staff are happier and have more time for our clients who are really interested in the hygiene and environmental aspects of the towels.”
Scrummi say that compared to other disposable towels on the market, theirs is the only one to offer the feel and texture of a traditional towel that clients and stylists like. “Our product is at least 20% thicker than other disposable towels and has a unique waffle-texture” says Robert Cooper, Director of Scrummi.
“This product is a great step forward for disposable towels in the Salon. It addresses all of the environmental concerns while finally offering salons a really viable alternative to cotton towels in terms of performance and cost. At fifteen pence each that’s half the cost of using a cotton towel.”
If extra proof was needed about just how innovative this product is, Medway Council has awarded Scrummi a “Partners for Growth” loan to help them expand their business and employ additional staff.
The next step is expansion into Europe says Robert. “We have already had such a fantastic reaction from UK salons that we are searching for distribution partners in Europe.”
